The following are important race day details for participants and anyone who wants to come and join the fun.
How do I get there?
The Chase Race starts/finishes at Simon Park, downtown Conway. Take I-40 to Exit 127 and go west toward downtown. After you pass the Walgreens on your right you’ll be a few blocks from Toad Suck Square (the corner of Oak Street and Front Street). Find a place to park and you’ll see all the festivities just south of Toad Suck Square on Front Street at Simon Park. There is plenty of parking on the streets and in parking lots downtown.
What time does the race start?
The 2 mile race (the one without your pet) starts at 8am. The 1 mile race with your pet starts after the 2 mile race is finished. Plan to run one or both if you like.
When is packet pickup?
If you registered for the race, plan to pick up your packet on Friday from the Sporty Runner between noon and 7pm. You can also pick it up on Saturday morning before the race between 6:30 and 7:45. We recommend you come earlier if you have not picked up your packet to avoid the rush and make sure you are all set to run at 8am.
Can I register on the day of the race?
Absolutely. The Chase Race will not fill up. You can register between 6:30 and 7:45. We prefer you register ahead of time but will take your registration (or the registration of your friend who decided to race with you at the last minute) up until 7:45.
What should I bring?
You should bring a lawn chair, some friends to cheer, someone who wants to adopt a pet and of course, your running shoes. The after race festivities can take awhile since we give out 160 awards. Enjoy yourself in beautiful downtown Conway — in that lawn chair you are planning to bring. We’ll have water and poop bags for your pets and we’ll also have pets who are looking for a home so come with the possibility that you may fall in love with one of them and take them home.
Will there be anything to eat after the race?
We have some fantastic local food sponsors who will be providing FREE food for everyone (not just runners). In addition, there are some fantastic places to go for breakfast or an early lunch in beautiful downtown Conway.
Will there be chip timing?
There will be start and finish line chip timing for the 2-mile race. Gun time (no start mat) for the 1-mile race. This means that you do not have to start at the very front to win the race. We recommend that you start based on where you feel you will finish – in other words, if you are planning to walk the course, please don’t start in front. You might also encourage your small children to start a bit behind the starting line.
What if it is raining or cold?
As long as the race director feels the course is safe, the race will go on, rain or shine. Any race day changes such as delayed starts or anything else will be posted on our Facebook Page. Be sure to like our Facebook Page if you are on Facebook so you’ll know immediately if something changes or there is something you need to know.
We’ll be running on city streets, will it be safe?
The Conway Police department, volunteer monitors, and traffic cones will provide course protection for all participants. We will have course monitors at every turn to help runners stay on course.
